Premier of our latest promotional video at 11 Downing Street

The 28th of October 2009 was an eventful day for Gateway Media and myself. We were able to premier our latest video work at Number 11 Downing Street as part of our parent charity, City Gateway, 10 year celebration. The event was attended by a number of Gateway Media's clients along with other partners of City Gateway and a number of MP's. The video shown was a short promotional video highlighting City Gateway's work followed by another… Continue

What the hell is social enterprise anyway?!

Do you know? I don't think anyone really knows do they? My view is it’s when a business is run commercially but is also ethically supportive of an element of our society or environment that needs help. Gateway Media is more towards the commercial side of SE, we are trying to get funds for our parent Charity City Gateway through selling our services, but we do not deliver much of the social outputs ourselves. Our sister enterprise, F… Continue

Timelpase Production - All or Nothing!

Quite often we create services based on requests from our clients. Sometimes these services go on to be successful but often they are one offs. Our latest client requested new service is time lapse photography and we have already received a second request, this time for a 2 year shoot. From working in media in the construction industry for some time I always expected that we would need to do some of this at someContinue

We bag Sir Ian McKellen for our latest promo video

Promo Video's have always been a sore point for me, I always wanted something that was innovative and had that special something but we never have the budget to pull it off. In the end it came down to experimentation with one of our motion graphic artists and insight from Neil our creative director to come up with the idea of using live action with graphics. While the video was under way we were asked to film an event for City Gateway where Sir Ian McKellen and Rapper Akala we… Continue

Motorcycling - a risk taking behaviour

Taking risks is essential in small business. I believe that taking new opportunities even if they are outside your comfort zone, will normally end up with at lease learning something new and at best with increased growth for the business. Accepting new challenges and then working out how best to achieve them is how Gateway Media grew it's service offering. This week I took the risk of taking my motorcycle to a track day and if you crash on the track your insurance is void. Lu… Continue
