Hi - I'm an inquisitive mind interested in what happens when you use social entrepreneurship to effect culture through the disciplines of media, marketing and entertainment.

My background is in charity 2.0. At university (Birmingham 2001-2005, MNatSci Chemistry with French) I won the Channel4 IDEASFACTORY Award for PR & Marketing. Genuine surprise!

I'd been sponsoring a child for £15/month and could no longer afford it so cancelled the donation. Then I realised I could easily get fifteen of my mates to chip in £1/month each to sponsor the child. And so Sponsor A Kid For a Quid was born and over 150 students and staff participated in the scheme.

Around that time Melissa who ran the Ethical Trade Society mentioned they were 1 organiser short of an ethical fashion show so I put together a team and took the reins. The show we did blew people away. Back then (March 2004) Fairtrade was a fairly unknown concept outside of the hemp-wearing crew so the vibe I gave the show was one of dance-fuelled, model-soaked entertainment supplied by the uni's hottest singers and performers. Awareness of Fairtrade shot up and the show became an annual institution.

So now I'm looking at pushing forward ideas that make the concept of Making the world a better place, Cool. As it should be!

I'm one of the Government's Social Enterprise Ambassadors and I currently chair the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise. I am part of the Web Ambrosia group of web2 entrepreneurs, a Make Your Mark Connector and a hip hop choreographer experimenting with the influences of capoeira on the greatest dance form known to man :-)
